![]() Anyone 21 years of age or older that has a valid, unexpired out of state driver’s license will no longer be required to take the class D knowledge test or motorcycle knowledge test.The Class D written knowledge exam is needed for new drivers wanting to obtain a Minnesota Instruction Permit, current drivers transferring their expired out of state license to Minnesota, current drivers under the age of 21 transferring their out of state license to Minnesota, or current Minnesota residents whose driver’s license or permit has been expired for more than one calendar year. There is a 30 minute time limit to take the test per State guidelines once the applicant begins the test. ![]() We also have headphones available upon request for those wanting an audio test. The knowledge test is offered electronically only, and it can be taken in multiple languages. There is a $10 fee to take the test at our location. The Wright County License Center is an approved third-party proctor for Class D (Permit) Written Exams. The Wright County License Center is not able to do Road/Skills Tests per state statute. ****No testing is offered at the License Center on Mondays or Fridays**** Walk ins are accepted on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8am-10am and 1pm-2:30pm. Walk ins will be accepted with priority given to those with appointments.
